World Cup 2023 : Australia back on the track! Beat New Zealand by 5 runs

Aussies roared again! They are back on track. Australia defeated New Zealand by five runs in ODI World Cup 2023 match, in Dharamshala on Saturday. After an explosive show from Aussie batters, it was a breath taking contest between New Zealand and Australia. It went to a last over match. After 771 runs were scored in Dharamsala, Australia just achieved a five runs victory over New Zealand.

Today New Zealand had won the toss and opted to bowl first against Australia at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala. Australia amassed a massive total of 388 runs. Openers gave Australia a tremendous start. Travis Head scored 109 runs off 67 balls and his opening partner David Warner scored 81 runs off 65 balls. Head took just 25 balls to reach the half century mark and Warner took 28 balls. The duo mustered 118/0 at the end of 1st powerplay. The pair added 175-run for the opening stand. Steve Smith and Mitchell Marsh failed today. Maxwell scored 41(24), Inglish scored 38(28), while Cummins hammered 37 in just 14 balls. They helped the team to pile a massive 388 on the board.

Chasing 389, New Zealand began well. But Devon Conway and Will Young departed too soon. Conway and Young eventually scored 28 and 32 respectively. Then Rachin Ravindra rebuilt the Black Caps innings with a century. He scored 116 for 89 balls. After that it was a show of falling wickets. It became a nail biting contest, match dragged to the last ball. At last New Zealand reached 383/9 in 50 overs. Travis Head awarded as player of the match.

Australia have now won 4 on the trot, while it is a second successive loss for New Zealand. With this win today Australia is on the 4th spot in Points table with 8 points and +0.970 net run rate. New Zealand is on 3rd position with same points and +1.232 run rate.
