Delhi Capitals still remain in playoffs race with their win over Lucknow Super Giants by 19 runs in a crucial do-or-die IPL 2024 match, on Tuesday. Chasing 209, LSD stopped at 189/9 in 20 overs. The win keeps DC in contention for playoffs. Technically, they might still make it but their NRR is too much in the negative for them to have realistic hopes of making it to the next round. LSG also have a match in hand.
Batting first Delhi Capitals posted 208/4 in 20 overs. Jake Fraser-McGurk went back with a duck. Then Abishek Porel and Shai Hope (38 off 27) took the charge. Abishek was brilliant though out the tournament. He scored crucial 58 off 33 balls in this game. At last Rishabh Pant (33 off 23 balls) and Tristan Stubbs (57 off 25 balls) put DC to the fighting total.
LSG needed 209 for a win and they were never in the chase. They lost four wickets in the powerplay. Ishant Sharma was brilliant today. He took KL Rahul (5) on his first over and got Quinton de Kock (12) on his second over. Axar trapped dangerous Marcus Stoinis (5) early with stumps. Then again Ishant Sharma got Deepak Hooda with lbw on his third over. Losing 4 wickets with 44 runs on board in 4.1 overs shattered LSG and they could not recover well. Though Nicholas Pooran (61 off 27 balls) and Arshad Khan (58 not out off 33 balls) helped the LSG fight to continue, at last they managed to reach 189-9 in 20 Overs.
