Australians are world champions again! For the sixth time they won the ODI World Cup title! Pat cummins led aussie side just smashed India in ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 final. India were clearly the favourites, being the only undefeated team in the tournament, defeated by Australia by 6 wickets in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on Sunday. Australia showed once again why they have the most number of World Cup titles as they saved the best for the last.
Aussie Captain Pat Cummins won the toss today and invited India to bat first. Batting first, the famed Indian cricket team batting line-up failed miserably. They set 241-run target for Australia. As every match India skipper Rohit Sharma set the momentum with 47 runs off 31 balls. But Shubman Gill (4) and Shreyas Iyer (4) failed on the big stage. It was Virat Kohli (54 off 63 balls) and KL Rahul (66 off 107 balls) again built the partnership for India in the Middle. Jadeja (9) and Suryakumar Yadav (18) also could not justify their fame. India made 241 loosing all wickets in 50 overs. Australian bowling and fielding were great today. Starc picked 3 wickets. Cummins and Hazelewood got 2 wickets each.
In reply, Australia reached the target in just 43 overs with Travis Head top-scoring with a 120-ball 137. He was backed by Marnus Labuschagne (58 off 110 balls). Though Australia lost the wickets of Warner, Mitchell Marsh and Steven Smith soon, Head and Labuschagne made the crucial partnership for the win. They made the win of Australia look easy on the slow pitch of Ahmedabad. Bumrah got 2 wickets. Sijaj and Shami both got 1 wicket each. Aussies defeated the Indians by 6 wickets and captured the title for the sixth time.
