Shreyas Iyer Likely to Miss Last Three Tests Against England: Report

Another injury blow to the Indian Cricket team! Shreyas Iyer likely to miss the last three Tests of the five-match home series against England. According to a report, he is suffering from back and groin injury.

England opened the series with a win, while India came back to level it at 1-1 in Vizag. Though India missed Mohammed Shami, Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja due to fitness concerns. Virat Kohli was also unavailable due to personal reasons. Now Shreyas Iyer’s injury going to be problematic for team India. Previously he was unavailable a long period of time with back troubles in the last 12 months and went through a surgery. He came back only in August ahead of the Asia Cup. He hasn’t been in run-scoring form lately and struggled in the first two Tests against England. Now, Iyer will reportedly receive treatment at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli is expected to remain unavailable for the third Test also, like Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam. KL Rahul expected to be back in the squad. Ravindra Jadeja’s injury status still has not been confirmed. Bumrah likely to take rest for the Rajkot Test. The selectors were originally expected to meet on Thursday (February 8) but that still not happened. Now the picture will be cleared after the formal squad announcement.
