Rajasthan Royals have been beaten for the third time this season now. Delhi Capitals won the match against Rajasthan Royals by 20 runs at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Tuesday. Batting first DC scored 221-8 in 20 overs. But RR reached till 201-8. Winning the match in a ‘Do or Die’ situation DC still remained in qualifier race.
DC batted first. Jake Fraser-McGurk (50 off 20 balls) and Abhishek Porel (65 off 36 balls) gave their team a good start. They scored 60 runs in opening partnership. Both of them dismissed by experienced Ashwin. Later Tristan Stubbs played quick 41 off 20 balls. DC scored 53 off the last 3 overs. DC reached 221 for 8 in 20 overs. Ashwin picked 3 wickets giving only 24 runs in 4 overs. All the other bowlers for RR were too expensive. Avesh Khan gave 42 runs in 2 overs.
RR lost Jaiswal early. Then Sanju Samson and Jos Buttler constructed 63-runs partnership. Riyan Parag (27 off 22 balls) and Shubham Dubey (25 off 12) also played their part. Sanju played his captain’s knock with 86 off 46 balls. After he dismissed by Mukesh Kumar, it was difficult for RR. Then Kuldeep bowled a game-changing 18th over picking 2 wickets for just 4 runs. RR stopped 20 runs short. They remained at number 2 on points table with 8 wins and 16 points. DC moved to number 5 with 12 points.
