Jasprit Bumrah reached the top of ICC Test bowling rankings. He surpassed his teammate Ravichandran Ashwin to become the first Indian pacer to reach the top spot in the ICC Test bowling rankings. After India’s victory over England in Visakhapatnam Test, the Indian pacer concurred the top position.
Latest ICC Test Rankings for bowlers unveiled on Wednesday, February 7. Bumrah surpassed South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada and India’s Ravichandran Ashwin to claim the top spot. Previously, Ashwin held number one position. Now he secured the third position and Rabada maintains his hold on the second position. Jasprit Bumrah became first bowler in the history of cricket to attain number one ranking across all three formats (ODI, Test, T20Is) of the game. From India, Virat Kohli is the only batter to have claimed the No. 1 spot in the ICC rankings in all three formats before.
Bumrah picked up 9/91 in the Visakhapatnam Test to help India win the match by 106 runs over England. Bumrah was at the no. 3 spot before the match began and moved to the top of the rankings, leaving behind Ravichandran Ashwin behind. Former England captain Nasser Hussain rightly said that there’s no shame in losing to “a genius”.
