Punjab Kings beat Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on Thursday by 3 wickets. With Shubman Gill’s unbeaten half-century Gujarat Titans posted 199/4 in 20 overs. PBSK managed to chase down the target of 200 in 19.5 overs with Shashank Singh’s unbeaten 61-run knock.
PBKS bowled first. Captain Shikhar Dhawan winning the toss dicided to bowle first. Gill’s remarkable innings of 89 runs off 48 balls marked the highest individual score of the season so far, punctuated by six fours and four sixes. Supported by B Sai Sudharsan’s brisk 33 off 19 balls and Rahul Tewatia’s aggressive 23 off 8 balls, unbeaten Gill guided Gujarat Titans to 199/4 in 20 overs.
Chasing 200, PBKS lost wickets in a quick succession. But Shashank stood tall against all odds and played an unbeaten knock of 61 off 29 balls and guided his side to victory in 19.5 overs. The impact player, Ashutosh Sharma, came in and made a real impact. He scored a 17-ball 31 and played the perfect foil to Shashank. Prabhsimran Singh also scored 35 runs off 24 balls. PBKS chase the highest score in IPL 2024 and moved to number five on the table winning two put of four matches.
