Kolkata Knight Riders won by 1 run against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the absolute roller-coaster game of Indian Premier League 2024 match at Eden Gardens, Kolkata on Sunday. Batting first KKR scored 222 for 6 in 20 overs. Then an absolute thriller we got to witness, RCB stopped just 1 run short!
Royal Challengers Bengaluru skipper Faf du Plessis won the toss and elected to bowl first against. Salt again played a tremendous knock. He smashed 48 off 16 balls. Skipper Shreyas Iyer scored composed 50 off 36 balls. Ramandeep Singh (24) and Andre Russell (27) also contributed their part. KKR scored 222/6 in 20 overs. Cameron Green was the most successful bowler for RCB with 2/35.
Chasing 223 to win, Kohli got off early. Faf followed soon after but Patidar and Jacks kept RCB going. They ensured that RCB remained on the game. Jacks (55 off 32 balls with 5 boundary and 5 over boundary) and Patidar (52 off 23 balls, 3×4, 5×6) could not finish the game. RCB went from 137/2 to 155/6 suddenly. Their hope depended on Dinesh Karthik. He scored 25 off 18 balls. Suyash Prabhudessai (24 off 18 balls) also played a couple of shots but unable to finish the game. Then Russell picked the two wickets and completely changed the game in KKR’s favour. The drama was not over though. Karn Sharma (20 off 7 balls) smashed Starc for 3 sixes in the 20th over to bring down the target to 3 off 2. Then Starc held on to a superb return catch. On the last ball Ferguson was not quick enough to sprint back for the second run. RCB lost the match by 1 run.
