India defeated South Africa by 7 wickets to win the 2nd Test. With the win, India also levelled the series 1-1 at Cape Town. Jasprit Bumrah snatched a match-changing six-wickets while Aiden Markram scored a fighting century in the 2nd innings of South Africa. The Proteas got all out at 176 giving India 79 run target. India chased that with 7 wickets remaining. It is India’s first-ever win at Cape Town.
Previously South Africa won the toss and elected to bat first in the Cape Town test. They were bowled out for 55 runs in 23.2 overs in the first Innings. This is the lowest test score by any team against India. Pacers were getting support from the pitch. Mohammed Siraj picked up 6 wickets, his career-best of 6/15. Bumrah and Mukesh Kumar got 2 each. Kyle Verreynne scored highest 15 runs for the proteas.
But Indian innings collapsed too. Rohit Sharma scored 39 runs. Then Kohli (46) and Shubman Gill (36) were building the partnership. But soon after they got out Indian side lost their last six wickets in 11 balls for no run. From 153 for 4 to India collapsed to 153 all out in their first innings in the final session of first day. South Africa were 62 for 3 in their second innings at stumps
On the 2nd Day opener Aiden Markram started to attack and slammed his 7th century off 99 balls. But Jasprit Bumrah started to shine. He bagged his 9th Test five-wicket haul. Rohit Sharma and Co. restricted South Africa at 176. India chased down 79 runs target loosing 3 wickets, became the 2nd asian team to beat South Africa at Cape Town. Mohammed Siraj awarded as player of the match.
