IND vs SA 2nd Test : 23 wickets fall in Day 1 as India lead by 36 Runs

It was a bowler’s day out on first day of India vs South Africa 2nd Test. 23 wickets fall in just 75.1 overs at the Newlands Stadium in Capetown on Wednesday. India led by 36 runs as Proteas were 63/3 in their second innings on stumps on Day 1 after India were bowled out for 153 in their first innings as they lost their last six wickets for zero runs. Before that Proteas were all out with 56 runs on thr board in the first innings.

Today South Africa won the toss and elected to bat first. They were bowled out for 55 runs in 23.2 overs. This the lowest test score by any team against India. Pacers were getting support from the pitch. Mohammed Siraj picked up 6 wickets, his career-best of 6/15. Bumrah and Mukesh Kumar got 2 each. Kyle Verreynne scored highest 15 runs for the proteas.

But Indian innings collapsed too. Rohit Sharma scored 39 runs. Then Kohli (46) and Shubman Gill (36) were building the partnership. But soon after they got out Indian side lost their last six wickets in 11 balls for no run. From 111 for 4 to India collapsed to 153 all out in their first innings in the final session. Successful bowlers for SA, Lungi Ngidi 3/30, Kagiso Rabada 3/38, Nandre Burger 3/42. South Africa were 62 for 3 in their second innings at stumps to trail India by 36 runs.
