Indian squad for first two test against England announced on friday by BCCI. Ishan Kishan is not in the 16 man squad. In his place 22-year-old Dhruv Jurel gets the call as a back-up wicketkeeper. He has been dropped from the Indian team for the ongoing series against Afghanistan. Reports have emerged of the wicketkeeper-batter being dropped due to issues with discipline and trust. Though coach Rahul Dravid denied such things, rumours did not stop. But Ishan Kishan ‘available’ on social media as he recently posted a video of training on his X handle.
It was reported that the Indian team management and selectors are unimpressed with Ishan Kishan. However, head coach Rahul Dravid denied any issues with discipline for Kishan. He said, “Absolutely no disciplinary issue. Ishan Kishan was not available for selection. Ishan requested for a break, which we agreed in South Africa. We supported it. He has not yet made himself available. When he is available, he will play domestic cricket and make himself available for selection.” Kishan is yet to make himself available for selection in his state team Jharkhand. Jharkhand Cricket Association confirmed the PTI that Ishan hasn’t contacted them yet.
Meanwhile, Ishan Kishan posted a training video on his social media platform. After ongoing T20I series against Afghanistan, Kishan has been dropped from the squad of the first two test against England.
