Hardik Pandya replaced Rohit Sharma as Mumbai Indians’s captain. Hardik was signed as a trade from Guajrat, a franchise he decided to join two years ago. Though in a press conference organised by the Mumbai Indians on Monday, Hardik said that he isn’t expecting anything awkward between him and Rohit.
About the fans’ emotions on the captaincy Hardik Pandya said, “I will be bowling. I respect the fans’ emotions but I can only control the controllable. I respect them but I will focus on what I can be doing.” When asked if he has had a chat with Rohit since the captaincy change, Hardik said, “I haven’t got a lot of time to talk with Rohit because he has been touring. I will definitely catch up when he links up with the team.”
Hardik said on the captaincy change, “Rohit Sharma is the captain of the Indian team, which helps me because what this team has achieved, it has achieved under him. From now onwards, it will be about carrying forward what he has achieved, so there will be nothing awkward. I have played for 10 years under him and I know he is going to have his hand on my shoulders throughout the season.” Hardik Pandy’s first match as Mumbai Indians captain will be against his previous side, Gujarat Titans, in Ahmedabad on March 24.
