Sunil Narine powered Kolkata Knight Riders to a formidable 223 for 6 against Rajasthan Royals in their Indian Premier League match on Tuesday at Eden Gardens. But Jos Buttler’s century catch the show as Rajasthan Royals won by 2 wickets against KKR.
After winning the toss, RR opted to ball first. Narine took charge. KKR made 56 for 1 in the power play. Narine raced to his half-century in 29 balls. His 56-ball 109 lead KKR to 223-6 in 20 overs. Angkrish Raghuvanshi played 18 ball 30. Narine batted till the 18th over, first stitching 85 runs with Angkrish Raghuvanshi (30) and then adding 51 runs with Andre Russell (13). Later, Rinku Singh posted nine-ball 20 not out with two sixes. KKR scored 62 runs in the last five overs.
In reply, Jaiswal came out all attacking but he was nipped out by Vaibhav Arora for a 9-ball 19. Skipper Samson got a out on 2. But RR ended up scoring 76/2 at the end of the powerplay. In the middle overs Rajathan scored just 30 runs in the 6-over phase. They lost back to back wickets and the scoring rate dipped significantly. Then Jos Buttler made the difference. RR needed 46 runs off the last 3 overs. The Englishman, who was on 42 off 33 at one stage, showed the brilliance and scored 42 of the last 46 runs to take his team over the line. Buttler finished unbeaten on 107 off 60 balls and RR have equalled their own record for highest succesfull run chase.
