When the match was looking comfortable in favour of MI, Titans turned the table in the last 6 overs and finished the match with a 6-runs victory. Third win for GT against MI at this venue. MI once again started the season with a defeat.
Titans batted first in the match. Mumbai Indians restricted Gujarat Titans to 168 for 6 in their opening IPL match in Ahmedabad on Sunday. Jasprit Bumrah bowled a couple of terrific spells. Sai Sudharsan’s 45 off 39 balls was the highest score for Titans. Coming back into IPL after one-season injury lay-off, Bumrah had brilliant figures of 3 for 14.
Now Ishan Kishan’s IPL off-form still continues. Facing 4 balls he returned to pavilion without scoring a run. Rohit ‘Hitman’ Sharma had parked himself in the middle again and the visitors looked completely at ease. For the third wicket partnership, Sharma and Dewald Brevis added 77 runs. But Sai Kishor got trapped Rohit by lbw MI innings collapsed. Though MI skipper Hardik Pandya smashed 11 off 4 balls, unable to finish the match. MI needed 48 from 36 balls with 7 wickets in hand. But they lost the match from this easy to win situation. Amazing death over bowling from Umesh Yadav and other GT bowlers snatched 11 dots 6 wickets. Titans amazingly won the match by six runs.
