Delhi Capitals recorded a six-wicket win over Lucknow Super Giants on Friday. After Kuldeep Yadav dazzled the LSG batters with his spin, Australia’s Jake Fraser-McGurk announced himself with a belligerent half-century on his IPL debut. With that Rishabh Pant’s another brilliant innings Delhi Capitals got their moral boosting victory.
Earlier, LSG captain KL Rahul won the toss and decided to bat first. LSG got off to a good start despite Quinton de Kock falling early. But after powerplay Kuldeep Yadav just derailed the LSG innings. He took in-form Nicholas Pooran for a golden duck. Then he dismissed Rahul on 39 off 22. Ayush Badoni scored a half-century in 31 balls in the death overs. LSG posted a respectable 167/7 after Kuldeep (3/20) sizzled with a three-wicket haul.
Chasing the target, DC lost Warner (8) early. Prithvi Shaw scored 32 off 22 balls. But Fraser-McGurk (55 off 35 balls) and skipper Rishabh Pant (41) struck a 77-run partnership to take the match away from the hosts. Delhi Capitals overhauled the hosts’ 167/7 in 18.1 overs. Tristan Stubbs made the winning score with a six.
