At last RCB get their win over CSK in a knockout game. Chennai Super Kings knocked out! Royal Challengers Bengaluru qualify for the IPL 2024 playoffs. RCB batters batted well to give their side 218 for 5 in 20 overs. They need to stop CSK below 201 to enter the playoffs. But CSK were restricted to 191 for 7 in 20 overs. Winning the Do or Die match by 27 runs at M Chinnaswamy Stadium RCB enter the playoffs of IPL 2024.
CSK won the toss and invited RCB to bat first. RCB posted a total of 218 for 5 in 20 overs. Virat Kohli played a crucial knock of 47 off 29. Faf du Plessis scored 54 off 39. Rajat Patidar (41 off 23) and Cameron Green (38 not out off 17) also helped RCB to get the score. Virat Kohli and skipper Faf du Plessis gave a solid start to RCB. Then Rajat Patidar and Cameron Green kept the momentum going. For CSK, Shardul Thakur picked up 2 wickets, while Tushar Deshpande and Mitchell Santner clinched one wickets each.
Maxwell struck first ball to remove Gaikwad to give RCB a great start. The partnership between Rahane and Ravindra set the innings of CSK back on track. But Lockie Ferguson struck first ball to remove Ajinkya Rahane (33). Rachin Ravindra (61 off 37 balls) was run-out after a mix-up with Dube. Dube (7) also was not in touch. MS Dhoni was also looking dangerous. He lifted a six over the roof at fine-leg on first ball of Yash Dayal’s last over. But credit to Yash Dayal who showed a cool head and forced a top-edge that got MS (25 off 13 balls). Then with slower balls he eventually took the victory for RCB. Jadeja though did not give up and remained unbeaten on 42 off 22 balls. RCB qualified for the playoffs as fourth team.
