Shubman Gill and Shardul Thakur will not play the third ODI against Australia at Rajkot. The Indian Cricket team management has decided to give them rest before upcoming ODI World Cup. Instead of going to Rajkot with the team Shubman and Shardul will join the squad in Guwahati for World Cup journey.
India has won the first two ODI matchs against Australia in 3 match ODI series and already captured the series. Captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli was not in the first two ODIs. But they will be in team for the last one. Jasprit Bumrah was also rested from second ODI. The BCCI had tweeted, “He has gone to visit his family and given a short break by the team management.” The BCCI also stated that Bumrah will join the team for the final ODI in Rajkot.
This year Shubman Gill is in excellent form. Shubman Gill is the leading run-scorer in ODIs in 2023 with 1230 runs in 20 innings at an average of 72.35 and a strike rate of 105.03. In last match against Australia he scored his overall sixth century, which is fifth in this year. He also scored a half century in the first ODI. In Asia Cup he scored a century against Sri Lanka though India lost. Gill has two hundreds against New Zealand and one against Bangladesh this year.
