India won the fourth test of the five matches series against England with five-wicket in Ranchi. The Men in Blue now have taken an unassailable 3-1 lead in the five-match series. So they have concurred the series win also. This is also the first series loss for England ever since Brendon McCullum has taken over the charge of head coach.
In the first innings England scored 353 with root’s unbeaten 122. Then India scored 307 in their first innings despite their middle order collapse. Jaiswal (73) with Shubman (38) played 82 runs partnership. Then debutant Dhruv Jurel played a crucial 90 runs innings and made many short partnerships with the tailenders. England batting collapsed in their second innings. They got all out in 145 as Ashwin picked 5 wickets and Kuldeep Yadav snatched 4 wickets.
India to get 192 for a victory, Jaiswal (37) and Rohit Sharma (55) gave India good start with 84 runs opening partnership. But Indian middle order collapsed again. English spinner Bashir was once again excellent. India quickly went from 84 for 0 to 120 for 5. But Shubman Gill (52) and Dhruv Jurel (39), the two youngsters batted beautifully. They made an unbeaten 72 runs partnership. Stokes kept changing the field, kept enticing the batters into false shots, but it was India’s day and they romped home with 5 wickets to spare. India also won the series. India have now taken an unassailable 3-1 lead in the five-match series with the final game to be played in Dharamsala from March 7.
