Indian Opener Ruturaj Gaikwad, who failed to recover from his finger injury, has been ruled out of the Test series against South Africa. Abhimanyu Easwaran is named as the Replacement for the upcoming three-match Test series against South Africa that begins from December 26 onwards in Centurion. Gaikwad will report back to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru regarding his injury.
The BCCI secretary Jay Shah issued official statement. “Ruturaj Gaikwad suffered an injury to his right ring finger while fielding in the second ODI against South Africa in Gqeberha. He underwent scans, and following an expert consultation, the BCCI Medical Team has ruled him out of the remainder of the tour.” “He will be reporting to the NCA for further management of his injury. The Men’s Selection Committee has named Abhimanyu Easwaran as his replacement,” the statement added.
Gaikwad got a finger injury during the second ODI match against South Africa. He was ruled out of the third ODI match. Before that match in Paarl, the BCCI statement said, “(He) hasn’t fully recovered from the blow he sustained to his ring finger while fielding in the second ODI. He remains under the supervision of the BCCI Medical Team.” Now BCCI confirmed that Ruturaj Gaikwad has been ruled out of the Test series also.
On the other hand, just four days left before the Test series between India and South Africa gets start, former India captain Virat Kohli returned back to India due to family emergency. But much details on his family emergency has not been confirmed yet. A cricket news website has been informed about that by BCCI sources. They also assured that Kohli will be back in time for the opening test which starts on December 26.
