Nepal became the first men’s team in the history of cricket to score more than 300 runs in a T20 international. Nepal scored 314 for 3 in their 20 overs against Mongolia in Hangzhou, China on Wednesday, surpassing the previous highest of 278 for 3 by Afghanistan against Ireland in 2019. In reply, Mongolia were all out for 41 as Nepal claimed an emphatic 273-run victory. They went pass Czech Republic, which secured a 257 run win over Turkey in 2019.
Kushal Malla, batting at number three, smashed an unbeaten century in just 34 balls and broke the record for the fastest men’s T20I century held previously by India captain Rohit Sharma and South Africa Batter David Miller. Rohit and Miller both took 35 balls to score the ton against Sree Lanka in 2017 and Bangladesh in 2019 respectively. Milla ended with unbeaten 137 in 50 balls with 8 fours and 12 sixes. He also became the first cricketer from Nepal to score a ton in the T20 Cricket.
After that Dipendra Singh Airee scored fastest fifty in the T20 international cricket in just 9 balls to break Yuvraj Singh’s 16-year-old record made in the 2007 T20 World Cup against England. Dipendra remained unbeaten on 52 off 10 balls with 8 sixes. Nepal smashed a total of 26 sixes in their innings against Mongolia, the highest in a innings by a team in this format’s history. They went pass Afghanistan’s record of 22 sixes.
