Lucknow Super Giants finished their IPL 2024 session with 18-run win over Mumbai Indians. Mumbai finished at the bottom of the standings for the second time. Nicholas Pooran and KL Rahul powered LSG to 214/6. Then Mumbai finished with 196-6 in 20 overs at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Friday.
Hardik Pandya’s Mumbai Indians won the toss and opted to bowl first against LSG. LSG lost Padikkal (0) on very first over. Then KL Rahul and Stoinis (28) constructed their innings. Then Nicholas Pooran scored 75 off 29 balls as LSG posted a total of 214 for 6 in 20 overs. KL Rahul also played a crucial knock of 55 off 41 balls.
MI certainly started good. Rohit was in full flow and the openers shared an 88-run stand. Brevis (23) was the first to fall and that triggered a collapse of sorts. Suryakumar Yadav went for a duck and Rohit, who was looking good for a big score, fell for a well-made 68 in 38 balls. LSG spinners kept things very tight before Naman Dhir came out and played a catchy knock. He finished unbeaten on 62 in just 28 balls. But but he didn’t have much support from the other end as MI finished 18 runs short.
