Punjab Kings won by 8 wickets against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens on Friday IPL match. Jonny Bairstow snatched the game away from KKR scoring 108 not out off 48 balls. Shashank Singh joined the party with 68 off 28 balls as PBKS reached the target of 262, 1.2 overs remaining.
Batting first KKR openers, Narine and Salt forged a 138-run partnership for the opening wicket. Narine smashed 71 off just 32 deliveries with nine fours and four sixes. Phil Salt also smashed 72 in only 37 balls. Later Venkatesh Iyer (39), Russell (24), Shreyas Iyer (28) helped KKR to reach a mammoth score 261/6 in 20 overs. It was the highest score at Eden Gardens in T20.
But Prabhsimran and Bairstow started on fast lanes. Prabhsimran Singh scored 54 off just 20 balls before got run out by Narine. Punjab had tallied 93 in the powerplay. Rossouw also put his small contribution, 26 off 16 balls. Then Shashank Singh came in and just toyed with the bowlers. He scored 68 not out off 28 balls. Jonny Bairstow was also unbeaten scoring 108 runs. Punjab successfully scaled down the highest total in T20 history with with 8 balls to spare. They won by 8 wickets.
