Champions remain unbeaten. Chennai Super Kings defeated Gujarat Titans by 63 runs at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Shivam Dube and Rachin Ravindra’s entertaining hitting set a huge score of 206 runs in front of Gujarat Titans that they couldn’t surpass.
Rachin Ravindra and skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad provided Chennai with a powerful start. They set the tune with 60 runs in the powerplay. Rachin Ravindra was more destructive, scored 46 runs in 20 balls with six boundaries and three over boundary. Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 46 in 36 balls. After that Shivam Dube played an explosive innings of 51 runs in 23 balls with five huge sixes. CSK posted a high score of 206/6 in 20 overs.
To win Shubman Gill needed to fire but his poor shot selection of a Deepak Chahar delivery, make him lose his wicket. Once Shubman was gone, Gujarat didn’t even have a chance. Though players like Wriddhiman Saha (21 off 17 balls) and B Sai Sudharsan (37 off 31 balls) tried to build the innings but failed. Finishers like David Miller (21) and Rahul Tewatia (6) didn’t have enough on the board to go for the improbable chase. So, the inevitable happened. CSK won by 63 runs in the end. Tight bowling from CSK bowlers allowed the Titans to score 143 in 20 overs. Chennai Super Kings made it 2 wins out of 2 in the IPL 2024 so far.
