Dhruv Jurel in Team India, Squad for first two Tests against England Announced
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced Indian squad for the first two Tests against England on Friday evening. 22-year-old Dhruv Jurel gets the call as a back-up wicketkeeper. But Ishan Kishan is not in the team. Veteran fast bowler Mohammed Shami is not also in the team due to his injury. His ankle injury happened during the 2023 ODI World Cup campaign in November last year. India and England will play their first test from January 25.
Selectors included four specialist spinners in 16 man squad. Kuldeep Yadav named with Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel. Avesh Khan also made his place beside vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Mukesh Kumar as pacer. Uttar Pradesh cricketer Jurel will be a back-up wicketkeeper to KL Rahul and KS Bharat. He had made his First-Class debut last year, made 790 runs from 15 matches so far in the domestic format.
